The next day, we went to Mandalay. Our guide met us at the airport & our fist stop was to this really long bridge.
As soon as we got out of the car, we were surrounded by little children. One girl walked alongside me & we talked. She asked me how many languages I spoke & I was pretty proud to tell her 3 (although not very well) and she says "I only speak 5." She was 8 years old!
After that, we went to visit a monastery. Apparently they have a ceremony every day where the monks line up to receive offerings for lunch. Here they are preparing the rice.
It was amazing to see all of those red robes!
After that, we went to the old palace.
We both had to be careful...the doorways & ceilings were pretty low at times.
After that, we went to an area that housed a bunch of stone tablets that contained the teachings of Buddha. There were hundreds of tablets & each one was housed in a small building. We made it there just as the sun was setting...stunning right?!?
